Product Description

Twin Pump Cementing Unit – High-Pressure, High-Capacity Cementing Solution for Onshore & Offshore Operations

Product Overview

A twin pump cementing unit is a truck-mounted, trailer-mounted, or skid-mounted high-pressure pumping and mixing system designed for oil and gas well cementing operations. Unlike single pump units that rely on a single plunger pump, twin pump units are equipped with two independent plunger pumps and two independent engines, enabling them to deliver higher pressures, greater flow rates, and enhanced operational reliability.

The primary function of a cementing unit is to precisely mix cement slurry—by combining dry cement, water, and various chemical additives—and pump it downhole at high pressure to secure casing strings in place. Cementing is one of the most critical operations in well construction: it isolates formations, prevents fluid migration, supports the casing, and provides zonal isolation throughout the life of the well-. The quality of the cement job directly impacts well integrity, production efficiency, and long-term safety.

Our twin pump cementing unit is designed as an all-weather cementing solution, applicable to a wide range of operating conditions including onshore, offshore, desert, and arctic or extremely hot environments. With its dual-pump configuration, intelligent mixing system, and rugged construction, it delivers the power, precision, and reliability demanded by modern cementing operations.

Twin Pump vs. Single Pump – Key Advantages

While single pump cementing units are suitable for shallow wells and less demanding applications-, twin pump units are specifically designed for medium and deep wells where higher pressures and larger volumes are required-. The dualpump configuration offers several distinct advantages:

Feature

Single Pump Unit

Twin Pump Unit

Number of Pumps

One plunger pump

Two independent plunger pumps

Pressure Capability

Limited by single pump rating

Higher maximum pressure; can be up to 103.5 MPa (15,000 psi)

Flow Rate Capability

Moderate

Higher; up to 2.1 m³/min or more with certain configurations-

Operational Redundancy

Single point of failure

Mutual standby of manifolds and unit functions-

Job Flexibility

One pump configuration

Two pumps can operate simultaneously or independently

Typical Application

Shallow wells

Medium and deep wells

The twin pump configuration is particularly valuable in remote or offshore locations where equipment failure can result in costly downtime. With two independent power systems, the unit can continue operating even if one pump or engine experiences an issue.

How a Twin Pump Cementing Unit Works

The twin pump cementing unit operates through a coordinated process of mixing and pumping:

Mixing – Dry cement, water, and chemical additives are combined in the slurry mixing tank (typically 10–12 bbl / 1.6–1.9 m³ capacity) using a high-energy recirculation jet mixing system. The bivariate automatic mixing system (AMS) continuously monitors and adjusts the slurry density to maintain the preset target.

Recirculation – The slurry is circulated through the mixing system to ensure thorough blending and consistent density. A recirculating centrifugal pump (typically 6×5×11) maintains the flow.

High-Pressure Pumping – Once the slurry reaches the correct density, it is drawn into the plunger pumps and discharged at high pressure down the wellbore. The unit can operate with one pump at a time or both pumps simultaneously, depending on the job requirements.

Displacement – The unit features displacement tanks (typically 2×12 bbl or 25 bbl capacity) that provide a buffer volume of mixed slurry, ensuring a continuous supply to the plunger pumps even during brief interruptions in mixing.

The entire process is controlled through a 12″ HMI touchscreen that displays operation data and curves in real time. Operators can seamlessly switch between MANUAL and AUTO control modes, and the system allows modification of operation interfaces and function keys according to individual preferences.

Key Features – Engineered for Performance, Safety, and Reliability

1. Dual Power and Pump Configuration

The unit is equipped with two independent engines (DDC S60, CAT C13, or CAT C15 options) and two plunger pumps (there are different options). This configuration provides:

High pressure capability – Up to 103.5 MPa (15,000 psi)

High flow rate capability – Up to 2.1 m³/min or higher with certain pump configurations

Operational redundancy – If one pump or engine requires maintenance, the other can continue operating

2. Intelligent Bivariate Automatic Mixing System (AMS)

The AMS system delivers precise density control, leading the slurry mixing technology of the industry. Key advantages include:

Density control range: 8.3–22 ppg (1.0–2.6 g/cm³)

Density control accuracy: within ±0.02 g/cm³

Seamless switching between manual and automatic control modes

Optimized density algorithm for accurate and stable control

3. All-Weather Operational Capability

The unit is designed for onshore, offshore, desert, and arctic or extremely hot conditions. Optional features include:

External fuel-fired heater for cold-weather starting

Rugged construction for extreme temperature ranges

4. Professional Data Acquisition and HMI

12″ HMI display shows operation data and curves in real time

Professional data acquisition system records, analyses, and stores operation data in real time

Customizable operation interfaces and function keys

5. Mutual Standby of Manifolds and Functions

The twin pump cementing unit achieves mutual standby of manifolds and unit functions, enhancing operational safety and reliability. This means that if one pump or its associated manifold experiences an issue, the other can take over seamlessly.

6. Professional Ergonomic Design and Protection System

The unit features a professional ergonomic design and protection system that enables comfort, safety, and reliability, enhancing customer satisfaction.
