Product Description

Fracturing Unit – High-Power Pumping Equipment for Well Stimulation

Product Overview

A fracturing unit (also known as a frac pumper or fracturing truck) is the core power source of any hydraulic fracturing spread. Its primary function is to take low-pressure fracturing fluid from the blender — where proppant (sand or ceramic particles) and chemicals have been mixed in — and boost it to extremely high pressures for injection down the wellbore. This high-pressure fluid creates and propagates fractures in the reservoir rock, allowing oil and gas to flow more freely to the wellbore.

The fracturing unit is equipped with a high-horsepower diesel engine, a transmission or torque converter, and a multi-cylinder positive-displacement plunger pump — typically a triplex (three-cylinder) or quintuplex (five-cylinder) design. The engine provides mechanical power to drive the pump, which uses reciprocating plungers to pressurise the fluid. Modern fracturing units can generate pressures exceeding 20,000 psi (138 MPa) and deliver flow rates of over 3.8 m³/min (1,000+ gpm).

Our fracturing units are available in truck-mounted, trailer-mounted, or skid-mounted configurations, offering the flexibility to match any operational requirement — from small single-well treatments to large-scale multi-well pad fracturing programs.

How a Fracturing Unit Works

The fracturing unit operates on a straightforward but demanding principle: converting engine power into hydraulic pressure.

Power Generation – A high-horsepower diesel engine (typically 2,000–2,800 hp) generates mechanical power.

Power Transmission – The engine drives the plunger pump through a transmission or torque converter, which allows the operator to match pump speed and output to the fracturing job requirements.

Fluid Intake – Low-pressure fracturing fluid from the blender enters the pump's fluid end through the suction manifold.

Pressurisation – Reciprocating plungers inside the pump draw fluid into the cylinders on the suction stroke and then force it out at high pressure on the discharge stroke. The use of multiple plungers (three or five) ensures a relatively smooth, continuous flow.

High Pressure Discharge – The pressurised fluid is discharged through the pump's fluid end and directed to the wellhead via high-pressure flowlines and manifolds.

Truck mounted units integrate the engine, transmission, pump, and all auxiliary systems onto a single heavy-duty chassis, providing excellent mobility for multi-well pad operations. Skid-mounted units are typically used in permanent or semi-permanent installations where mobility is less critical.

2. High-Pressure, High-Flow Capability

Depending on plunger size selection, our fracturing units can achieve:

Maximum working pressure – Up to 20,000 psi (138 MPa)

Maximum discharge flow rate – Up to 3.95 m³/min (1,047 gpm)

The pressure and flow trade-off is a fundamental characteristic of positive-displacement pumps: smaller plungers deliver higher pressure but lower flow; larger plungers deliver higher flow but lower pressure.

3. Multiple Plunger Size Options

Operators can select the appropriate plunger diameter for each job:

3-3/4″ – Maximum pressure output

4″ – Balanced pressure and flow

4-1/2″ – Higher flow output

5″ – Maximum flow output

4. Intelligent Pumping Control System

The fracturing unit is equipped with an advanced control system that enables precise, automated operation. Features include:

Complete job mode integration – Ensures intelligent operation across the entire frac spread

Real-time parameter monitoring – Continuous display of pressure, flow rate, and equipment status

Wireless and satellite communication – Enables real-time and remote data transmission and monitoring, leading fracturing control technology

5. Robust and Durable Construction

Reinforced subframe – Ensures perfect transportation and cross-country performance, suitable for rough road conditions such as mountains, hills, and desert areas

Excellent compatibility – Satisfies fracturing operations with different fracturing fluids

Multiple safety control measures – Rigorous and scientific manufacturing with stable and safe operation

6. Flexible Carrier Options

Available in three mounting configurations:

Truck-mounted – Maximum mobility for multi-well pad operations

Trailer-mounted – Good mobility with lower cost

Skid-mounted – Ideal for permanent or semi-permanent installations

7. Premium Component Selection

Chassis options – Mercedes-Benz, MAN, or Sinotruck

Engine options – MTU, CAT, or CUMMINS

Transmission options – ALLISON, Twin Disc, or CAT

8. Advanced Plunger Pump Technology

Our fracturing units feature high-performance plunger pumps (JR series) designed for the demanding conditions of hydraulic fracturing. These pumps use reciprocating plungers to pressurize fracturing fluid, with the pump's fluid end available in different configurations to match specific job requirements.

Applications

Our fracturing units are suitable for a wide range of well stimulation and oilfield operations:

Hydraulic Fracturing – Conventional and unconventional (shale, tight gas, coalbed methane) reservoirs

Acid Fracturing – Stimulation treatments using acid-based fluids
